How much do AMS Wheelchair Vans cost?
Mini van conversions range from $13,980 to $15,480, which includes both side and rear entrance conversions. As you can see, our wheelchair vans are considerably less than other mobility dealers. Click on the provided link to learn why so many people with disabled family members are choosing the AMS side entry and rear entry conversions.
Why does AMS Vans sell wheelchair vans over the Internet direct?
The reason we provide our customers with the option to purchase their conversion vans on the Internet is to save the buyer, that’s you, thousands of dollars. By selling mobility vans direct, we can put $3,000 to $10,000 back into your pocket. Some of our local competitors would like for you to believe that we only sell wheelchair vans via the Internet; however, this is not true. We provide this as an option to customers who have a difficult time getting to our physical locations and in order to provide our accessible vehicles at a lower price. While we are the largest mobility van dealer in the state of Georgia, including the greater and metro Atlanta market area, we want to reach outside our immediate area to help as many people as possible.
How do I purchase an accessible vehicle from your website?
In order to purchase a van from our website, you can contact us via email or by calling 1-888-880-8267. We will gladly assist you in choosing a vehicle that will meet your needs and fit your budget. Our inventory of both new and used accessible vehicles quickly changes, so don't wait to contact us. We offer three unique delivery methods: Truck & Trailer, Drive & Fly and Fly and Drive Program (Our Fly and Drive program will save you the most money).
Do you have "Web Exclusive Sales or Specials"?
Yes. Our "Web Exclusive Offers" are hi-lighted in blue on our new and used accessible inventory listing. We also have a 'Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles Specials' page showing the promotional discount. Our programs constantly change, so make sure you check back often for the latest sales and service promotions. Contact a customer service representative at 1-888-880-8267.
What is not included in your advertised wheelchair van prices?
There is a $175.00 documentation fee added to every handicap van we sell. If you are purchasing outside the state of Georgia (85% of our customers do), there is a delivery charge. If you chose to fly into Atlanta to pick up your wheelchair accessible van, we will provide up to a $300 discount on your van. Please be sure to read about our nationwide delivery pricing and pickup discounts.
What is the deposit policy on your accessible vehicles?
AMS Vans requires a 10% deposit to hold a wheelchair accessible vehicle. We accept Visa, MasterCard, personal or cashier checks and wire transfers. Your deposit will hold a van for up to three weeks. During this time, your deposit is fully refundable or transferable to another vehicle. If you require us to hold a van for longer than three weeks your deposit would be non-refundable.
If we deliver an accessible vehicle to your front door, we do charge a shipping fee and the shipping charges are non-refundable. The remaining balance of your 10% deposit will be refunded to you immediately after your van is returned to Atlanta.
How do I know what size van is best for me?
We provide both full size vans and minivans to our customers.
The minivan: There are many advantages to an accessible minivan, such as no deploying lifts or difficulty finding a space to park. Also, side and rear entry minivans are easy to drive and are fuel-efficient. Passengers will also enjoy the proximity to the driver, the caregiver, and the rest of the vehicle occupants. Since rear entry wheelchair van modification incorporates a lowered floor, the wheelchair passenger is able to see outside and enjoy the ride, instead of being stuck inside the cargo area of a full size van.
Another advantage for the wheelchair or scooter passenger is the smooth transition of riding ride up or down a wheelchair ramp which is close to the ground instead of being hoisted up or down on a wheelchair lift.
Full size Van: There are also advantages to a full size van. Full size vans have more interior room, but they do not necessarily offer more seating room. If your height reaches 5’4" or taller, you may want to consider a larger vehicle. A raised roof and raised doors are also available on most vans to increase headroom.
Will you take my car or adapted vehicle on trade?
Yes. We accept all types of accessible vehicles, cars, trucks, suvs, and handicap vans as trade-ins. If you currently have a modified or converted vehicle and want to upgrade, now is a perfect time to do it. For tax purposes, the trade-in value will be taken off the price of the new vehicle giving you a tax credit equal to the trade in value. Get a trade-in quote now if you desire to trade-in your vehicle.
How long will it take to get my new accessible vehicle?
If the vehicle you have chosen is pre-built, it usually takes 1 to 5 days for delivery. Special orders can take up to 5 weeks for a rear entry van and 4 weeks for a side entry. These are worse case scenarios. Please add two additional days if you need additional mobility equipment installed such as hand controls, transfer seats, or power lock downs systems.
Do you provide an owners manual for your accessible vans?
Yes, an owner’s manual is provided for all mini-vans converted or modified by AMS Vans.
Do you provide technical manuals for service providers?
Yes, we provide technical manuals, diagrams or whatever is necessary to perform service work on the AMS Vans conversion. We have implemented a "Strong, Simple and Safe" philosophy, which does not require a mobility dealer to provide service work.
Where do I take my accessible van for service?
If you are within the Metro Atlanta or North Georgia area you can bring your accessible van directly to our 80,000 square foot facility. For our nationwide customers who need service, please call us first and we’ll find the closest AMS Vans approved service center in your area and schedule the appointment for you. To find a local service center please contact AMS at 1-888-860-2473.
What is your warranty policy?
AMS Vans warrants that the structural metal fabrication we build on the newly installed floor pan unit will not fail due to rust or corrosion for a period of 7 years or 70,000 miles (whichever comes first), from date of purchase. All other added or substantially modified parts from our conversion are warranted for 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first). For door and ramp motor claims, only parts that are used to make the repair are covered. AMS Vans agrees to replace or repair any part that we find to be defective within the applicable warranty period or mileage. Any work done under warranty will only be paid for if AMS Vans or a service center that we choose completes the repair.
Will other mobility dealers do warranty work on the AMS Vans Conversion?
Yes and No. We will personally find a service center in your area to perform any needed repairs to your conversion. We will then pay them directly with a credit card so you won’t be out your hard earned money. To keep repairs to a minimum, we apply a strong, simple and safe approach to our conversion. We have implemented the 80/20 concept since 80% of all conversion problems are caused by 20% of the added gadgets, which we have purposively eliminated from our conversion.
There are several mobility van dealers that will use this as a fear tactic to try and persuade you not to buy your handicap van from us. We promise to finda service center in your area to handle any problem that might arise due to the conversion. These mobility dealers are very insecure about losing their $5,000 to $10,000 profit margin they have been enjoying at your expense. Make every dollar count!
Does the AMS Vans conversion void the factory warranty from Chrysler?
No. However on rare occasions, there might be a Chrysler dealer that is unfamiliar with the lowered floor minivan conversion concept. If this occurs, they could defer the service work to another dealer. This can happen to any wheelchair van manufacturer.
Does the Dodge Grand Caravan SE come with a power door?
No. Currently, Chrysler does not offer a Dodge Grand Caravan Se with a factory power door. Our philosophy is to keep the conversion Strong, Simple and Safe, so we have reduced the options for mechanical failures and kept our price point at $3,000 to $10,000 less than our competitors. All AMS wheelchair accessible vans come with a new 10" lowered floor conversion, power ramp, and a removable front passenger seat.
Our competitors offering Handicapped Driver Services in Atlanta, Marietta and Conyers sell the lowest end used 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan Se with a power door and kneeling system with around 15,000 miles for approximately $37,500. We offer the same vehicle except a higher end SE for $27,980 with out a power door.
We offer 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SXTs with Factory Power Doors, 3.8 Litre Engine, Aluminum Alloy Wheels, Bigger Tires, and Better Suspension with all power from $30,980. You still won’t have a kneeling system, but we guarantee you won’t experience any of the extra headaches due to a possible mechanical failure from kneeling system. Buy Wheelchair Vans built Strong, Simple and Safe and put nearly $6,000 cash back in to your own pocket.
If you are interested in purchasing a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country Touring Edition with Factory Power Doors, Power Liftgate, Shiny Wheels, Power Seats and much more, with a new conversion from $31,980 we’ll put almost $5,000 back in your pocket. These are much higher end vehicles with new conversions, 7/70 Limited Conversion Warranties, BUILT STRONG, SIMPLE AND SAFE without a kneeling system.
All Dodge Grand Caravan SXT’s and Chrysler Town & Country Touring Editions come with Remotes as well.
Do AMS conversion vans come with a standard removable front driver’s seat?
No, our lowered floor minivan is designed for passengers of handicap vans and their families. However, we do have the ability to add a removable front driver’s seat upon request.
Does AMS Vans provide a kneeling system?
No, Adaptive Mobility Systems formerly known as Handicaps Mobility has learned many lessons since our introduction into the Mobility Industry in 1979. In the past, we have repaired numerous kneeling systems from manufacturers of nearly every handicap vans provider including Braun, IMS and VMI. Our customers repeatedly explained that they turned this feature off because of the need for repair, which meant they were taking frequent trips to local mobility van dealers. Therefore, we decided to eliminate this feature from our conversion.
We understand that this could be a necessary need for some. For example, wheelchair occupants who drive from a manual wheelchair might need the kneeling system. Some of our clients might not have the upper body strength necessary to push a manual wheelchair up the power ramp. If you are an independent wheelchair user or lack the necessary upper body strength, purchasing one of our wheelchair vans is probably not the best choice for your needs.
Does AMS Vans cut out the driver's side Rocker panel?
No, AMS does not cut out the driver's side rocker panel. We believe it reduces the structural integrity of you vehicle. Our goal is to leave our accessible vehicles as close to the original factory specifications as possible. Our job is to keep you safe!
What happens when we no longer need the wheelchair accessible van?
We offer a post purchase resellers program with three alternatives for our customers. Here’s a quick overview.
- You can list your vehicle on our website for sale, which means you will receive the same nationwide exposure we have on every major search engine.
- We'll take your vehicle on consignment and do all the work for you for a 10% fee of the selling price.
- We'll buy the vehicle back at a reduced price.

How does the AMS Van resell value compare with other conversions?
One of the local dealers in Atlanta, Georgia manipulates customers into believing that our conversion doesn’t hold its value, but it’s simple math. If you pay $10,000 more for the lowest end Dodge Grand Caravan with no power rear vents, no power driver seat and a lower grade interior, it will probably lose more value than our upgraded SE version with alloy wheels, power vents, CD player, power drivers seat, and upgraded interior. It could bring you a savings of up to $10,000. Or, you can buy our Dodge Grand Caravan SXT or Chrysler Town and Country Touring Edition and put $5,000 to $6,000 dollars back in to your own pocket. We like this option and apparently so do our customers.
